The Institute of Law at Birzeit University Organises a Training Workshop on Data Management and Analysis

Ramallah: Wednesday, 23 October 2013 ‒ The Institute of Law (IoL) at Birzeit University held a training workshop on Data Management and Analysis. The training event addressed several issues, including principles and approaches to the analysis of corruption crimes,

how to manage data sources available to anti-corruption analysts, and analysis of corruption-related financial statements and reports. The training also explored the relationship between money laundering and corruption crimes. In addition to data analysis, several practical applications and case studies establishment of patterns of corruption were presented. Participants were distributed into working groups to discuss training themes.

The training is a component of the Anti-Corruption Capacity Building Assistance in Palestine Project, implemented in partnership and cooperation between the IoL and Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), High Judicial Council (HJC) and Public Prosecution. The project is designed to support Palestinian anti-corruption actors and provide capacity building to relevant staff. A number of staff members of the PACC Legal Affairs Directorate and IT and Monitoring Directorate took part in the training activity.

The Anti-Corruption Capacity Building Assistance in Palestine Project is implemented over the period from April through late December 2013. Tailored to promote accountability and fight corruption in Palestine, the project is part of a joint programme of the United Nations Development Programme/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) and EUPOL COPPS.
